My Data Engineering Journey
This has been coming for a while now. It has all led to this. Web Development, Graphic Design, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Business Development… Everything comes down to one thing for me now. Data!
For a long time, I had brandished myself as a Jack-of-all-trade, trying only to highlight the positives of my swiss army knife persona… but it wasn’t working. Nobody NEEDED (for the long haul) someone who was good at everything. They wanted someone who was AWESOME at a few things.
Enter DATA.
It all started with Oracle E-Business Suite (Financials) implementation at Cross River State and Osun State, Nigeria. I started to fall in love with data and data analytics. I loved deriving insights and generating reports for our clients.
The road then led to the Nigerian FinTech Industry, where my current role, within a development team, is focused on Data. As much as I like creating PL/SQL procedures and writing Views, I have come to learn that I’m more suited to the “plumbing” aspects of the Data Value Chain.
Join me on this journey as I discover the exciting world of Data Engineering where I learn to Build Data Pipelines that will allow Data scientists and Analysts to make the most of the Data available to them.
